Crushed Dreams

Well, my dreams are crushed! Last night Stewart and I went on a Hot Date and one of the things that we did was to go roller skating. Since last year I have dreamed of being a Derby Girl. If you have not ever been to the roller derby I feel bad for you. If you have been then you are awesome. After the first time I just knew that I needed to be a Derby Girl.

Now I remember skating as a young girl and it wasn't pretty. I was the kid that would stay on the outside edge of the rink and hold on to the wall. Since watching the Derby Girls I was pretty sure that I would be able to skate. I had visions of it all coming back to me with my wisdom and knowledge that comes with getting older I thought that I would be able to "get it" and skate like the wind. This did not happen. I was so stressed and scared and wobbly. It was so crazy! It made me see that I will never be able to be a Derby Girl because it was hard enough to stay up on my own let alone with 5 girls trying to push me down. I feel kind of sad but I guess I can still show my support for the Roller Derby by going to the bouts. If you are in need of an awesomely awesome time come with us. The season starts in April. Click on the picture to get more info about the Derby Girls.

P.S. This is my 100th post!

You could always try rugby. You don't have to be coordinated at all. If you drop the ball, you can just pick it up and keep running.

Well part of the point of roller derby is that I could wear a sexy costume. I don't think that you can do that with rugby.

but you do get to wear really short shorts. (4 inches)

I will go with you guys to the bouts.

Becca, you can wear a sexy costume ANY TIME YOU WANT!!! You have my permission.

Seriously.

Go right ahead.

Any time now.

BTW - Becca's skating ability improved greatly in the short time we were on the rink. Her "vise like death grip" on my hand decreased to a "one handed tourniquet" after about 20 minutes.

Becca we should all go skating together... Stewart and Carl can be all coordinated and have fun, and you and I can play follow the leader around the edge of the rink!

I will also go skating with you with you allow me to sing "Xanadu" at the top of our lungs!

Becca, I just came across your blog when searching for derby pictures. I am a skater on the Salt City Derby Girls. If you really want to be a derby girl I can help train you. We have tryouts on February 24th. Just let me know.
