Blogger Etiquette

So I'm wondering what the "rules" of blogging are?  Do you just add people to your list even if they don't know that you read their blog? Do you have to tell them that you are adding them to your list?  If someone adds you to their list do you have to add them to your list? Seriously, what's the etiquette in these situations?

Blogging is so funny because it's like you know people that you maybe never even talk to.  I met my sister in law's sister through blogging and when I met her in person I already felt like she was my good friend. I'd never talked to her in real life!  It was so funny and strange. I have a lot of blogs that I read of people that I never really knew except through their blogs and now I feel like we are friends.  It's such a strange dynamic.

What are your feeling about proper blogging etiquette?

I usually become a regular commenter before I add them to my stalking list. Or you could subscribe to their "followers" list so that they KNOW you are a stalker? It seems like a nice heads-up for the stalkee.

I say that you can add them to your blogroll as soon as you want. I can't tell you how many friends I've found because I noticed in my log files that they were linking to me. I throw blogs in my feed reader as soon as I've decided to be a regular.

I say add them. But I also read somewhere it's bad to put music on your blog, and if you do put music on your blog there should be somewhere at the top to turn it off - rather than putting it at the very bottom of the page.

I have been totally the same way... I say, if they know that you regularly read your blog, add them to a "friend" list, or whatever yours happens to be named. I also have a link list of random things I check from time to time, and that is where you could probably get away with some of those stalked-blogs you check out there. :)

You're hilarious.
